Natural Oil Woodstain is a transparent wood stain for vertical exterior timbers, such as timber cladding, garage doors, cabins, pergolas and other exterior trim. Woodstain is a 2 coat system.

Natural Oil Woodstain is not recommended for horizontal areas where food may be present such as timber patio furniture, as the product contains biocides for protection against mould, rot and fungal attack.

Coverage is approximately 26 square metres per litre on dressed timbers, and 12 square metres per litre for rough sawn or band sawn timbers. The coverage rates also depend on whether the timber is a hardwood or softwood.

Renovation is easy, with a 1 coat application to the cleaned, dry, mould free and intact surface after approximately 24 months depending on the timber’s exposure. Where the timber is fully protected from the sun and weather, the time between recoats may be longer.

Please note: Woodstain Clear Matt 701 has no UV protection. It should only be used on fully weather protected, external surfaces where a clear matt finish is required. In NZ, due to the strength of the UV, the 701 clear matt has a lifespan of 2-3 months in fully exposed weather conditions. In addition, light colours such as Woodstain White 900 and Pearl Grey 906 have limited UV protection. For longer protection, we recommend using one of the darker pigmented Natural Oil Woodstain colours.

In all cases a trial test to determine suitability is recommended.
