Osmo Oil Stain is the recomended oil stain for colouring timber flooring. It is a transparent (one coat) or intensive (2 coats) finish, which requires one or two top coats of Polyx Oil. The image below is of 3514 Graphite, showing the transparent and intensive effect.

Oil stain is a professional product, as it must be applied with a scraper, brush or roller, then buffed with a single disc machine to even out the finish.

When using colour tone 3501 White, it is not recommended to have it as an intensive (2 coat) finish, as it is prone to yellowing. Similarly, colour tone 3519 Natural is recommended for light coloured timbers only, where the finished wood will look natural. Use of Oil Stain Natural on dark timbers such as jarrah may result in a chalky appearance.

In all cases a trial test to determine suitability is recommended.
